The Surgery & Emotion project - in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS) - will be holding a one-day workshop on Friday 1 June 2018 at the RCS in London.
'Operating with Feeling' will bring together surgeons, historians and policymakers to discuss the emotional experiences of surgery, past and present.
The programme is available here.
The event will be divided into three sessions, each of which will explore different emotional issues affecting today's surgeons: Stress, Burnout and Bullying; Anxiety, Doubt and Grief; and Compassion and Sympathy.
Each session will open with a panel, comprising informal presentations from three different speakers. The presentations will be followed by a Q&A and then a breakout discussion where delegates can explore the issue in more depth and consider opportunities and challenges in surgical training and practice.
This event is free. A £20 refundable deposit is required to secure your place – this will be returned to you following your attendance.
Accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of England for up to 6.0 CPD points.
